Town leaders balance attracting, retaining businesses

Published Saturday March 11

Rising expenses and the trend toward online shopping challenge Los Gatos leaders to balance the town’s resources while attracting and retaining businesses.

The town council and planning commission held a joint study session March 1 that yielded some insights into the town’s business climate. The working session focused on land-use policies, identified areas for improvements, and included a presentation on the outlook for commercial and retail business in Los Gatos.

The town has roughly 81,000 square ft. of office, and research and development space, economic vitality manager Monica Renn said.

These types of spaces have a four percent vacancy rate.
