Cupertino: Tommy Shwe remembered as a uniter in community

Published Sunday March 5

As the weeks pass after the shocking death of prominent Cupertino resident Gin-Lu “Tommy” Shwe, those in the community fondly remember a man who helped unite city leaders during a time of great demographic change in the city.

Shwe was reported missing Jan. eighteen when he didn’t return home from a 24-Hour Fitness in Sunnyvale the night before and was absent from work, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.

On Jan. 23, worry turned to shock when the sheriff’s office stated Shwe’s body was found buried in a shallow grave in the Central Valley and Shwe’s handyman, 38-year-old Christopher Charlie Ellebracht, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
