Milpitas: Phan raised nearly $67K for council bid, filings state

Out of 6 candidates who ran for Milpitas City Council last year, newly-elected Councilman Anthony Phan raised the most funds — $66,970 — over the course of the 2016 election, campaign disclosure filings state.

Phan, who had 6,499 ballots cast in his name and garnered 20.85 percent of the vote, spent $24,886.96 during the course of the election.

Mark Tiernan, coming in 5th in the six-person race with 11.77 percent of the vote, outspent the people who ultimately took their respective places on the council, with $43,895 spent during the election, campaign disclosure filings state.

His campaign spent $41,697, of which $26,893.81 was spent in the last filing period.
